My favorite moments of Thanksgiving begin in the quiet of the morning. My husband and I start the day by turning on the fireplace, sipping coffee, and embracing the stillness before the house wakes up. Soon, my two grown children join us, home from wherever life has taken them. We settle in the family room, turning our attention to the Macy's Day Parade. My mom strolls in with a smile, completing the circle of togetherness. These moments of family, warmth, and tradition are what I hold closest to my heart.

Of course, the kitchen gets hectic as the day unfolds. Thanksgiving dinner, whether for 5 or 20 people, is a production. But oh, the reward of sitting down at the table! The craziness fades, and we take a moment to breathe deeply, drinking in the wonderful smells of turkey, stuffing, and pie—and the unmatched aroma of family.

Decorating my table the day before is another cherished moment. It’s a quiet preparation that feels sacred before the joyful chaos of Thanksgiving day begins.
