The Story Behind the Reach
At the first Crafted with Purpose retreat in April 2025, we were sharing ways we each fix our eyes on Jesus. Kathryn, one of the retreat leaders, quietly and powerfully shared something that stopped me in my tracks.
She said that when she wakes up in the middle of the night — anxious or restless — she sometimes physically reaches her hand up into the air and whispers the name "Jesus".
That simple motion — that stretch of the soul — anchored her in His presence.
She was no longer alone.
That image hit me in a deep place.
I’ve had moments like that too — where I didn’t have the words, but just whispering “Jesus” felt like everything.
It wasn’t polished or loud or perfect.
It was a reach. And that was enough.
From Kathryn’s story came this entire journey — my desire to help women live with a soul that reaches.
Not just when life falls apart. But in the middle of the ordinary, everyday moments.
Jesus said: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
Like Peter, we will feel the waves. We will get distracted. We will sink.
But what mattered in that moment wasn’t whether Peter could walk on water.
It was that he reached for Jesus. And Jesus reached back.
“Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him.” – Matthew 14:30–31
That moment — mid-sinking — was the victory.
So what if reaching for Jesus wasn’t just something we did in desperation?
What if it became the goal of our lives?
What if the reach itself — not the outcome — was the goal?
What if reaching became the rhythm?
This is where REACH begins:
Choosing to live tethered to Jesus.
To reach in faith.
To reach in desperation.
To REACH!
